Good Sculptor

As the third exhibition of Seongbuk-dong Project, 313 ART PROJECT will hold Jungpyo Hong’s Good Sculptor.
Jungpyo Hong is a sculptor and installation artist who searches for the meaning of arts in the process of overcoming his internal limitations. In trying to overcome the imperfection of reality, the artist establishes his rules and values, and through making art he achieves that conditional perfection.
In this solo exhibition, Hong refocuses his focus from arts to the identity of the artist himself. Centered on the theme “Art Actually”, he reinterprets his process as a sculptor in daily life and bridges the discrepancy between reality and art through his works. Various perspectives the artist offers allows the audience to review their own surroundings with a new point of view.
313 아트프로젝트는 올해의 기획, 성북동 프로젝트의 세 번째 전시로, 홍정표의 전을 개최한다.
홍정표는 자신의 내적 한계를 작품에 고스란히 투영하고 이를 극복하는 작업 과정 속에서 예술의 의미를 찾는 설치 및 조각 작업을 하는 예술가이다. 그는 불완전한 현실을 극복하기 위해 자신만의 규칙 및 가치를 확립하고, 예술 작업을 통해 그 기준에 부합하는 조건적 완벽함을 성취한다.
이 전시에서 작가는 전반적인 예술로 향하던 기존의 시선을 자신에게 돌려 작가로서의 정체성을 탐구한다. 예술가, 특히 조각가로서의 올바른 방향에 대해 고민하는 작가의 모습은 그가 일상을 바라보는 다양한 시선으로 이어지며, 그는 Art Actually (예술은 어디에나 있다) 라는 주제 속에서 일상을 재해석하고, 자신의 작품을 통해 현실과 예술의 간극을 풀어낸다. 그러므로, 작가가 제시하는 다양한 관점과 생각은 관객들로 하여금 새로운 시선으로 주변을 되돌아 볼 수 있게 해준다.
