성북동 프로젝트, 봄

<Seongbuk-dong Project — A View> features Je Yeoran, who recently had a solo exhibition at Art Basel Hong Kong, along with Lee Wan, Gigisue, and Jungpyo Hong, who have exhibited in <Seongbuk-dong Project> of the previous year. Additionally, a young upcoming artist Sid will be showing his works through <313 Seongbuk-dong — Alternative Space Project>.
This exhibition marks the end of <Seongbuk-dong Project> which has been held for a year and a half since Febrary 2017 in its temporary gallery space. Through the exhibition, 313 hopes to convey its ongoing efforts to bring the international art scene to the domestic stage, at the same time highlighting the Korean contemporary arts. Marking a crucial turning point for the gallery, the exhibition portends exciting prospects for the future.
The exhibition titled A View highlights the act and the power of seeing. By combining the fresh perspectives of emerging artists with the maturity of the established artists, the exhibition showcases various themes and styles of works to provide the audience with a holistic and dynamic movements in the Korean contemporary art scene.
Two new gallery spaces in Cheongdam-dong and Seongbuk-dong are scheduled to open in July and October respectively. 313 ART PROJECT is going to open new spaces at Cheongdam-dong and Seongbuk-dong on following July and October respectively. 313 will commence its new start with a solo exhibition of Je Yeoran, followed by the brothers Florian & Michael Quistrebert and Xavier Veilhan, who installed his large-scale mobile in the Incheon International Airport Terminal 2 earlier this year.
5월의 기획전 <성북동 프로젝트 – 봄>에는 최근 아트 바젤 홍콩에서 개인전을 선보였던 제여란을 비롯하여 지난 한해 동안 진행해 온 성북동 프로젝트에 참여했던 이완, 지지수, 홍정표, 그리고 대안 공간 프로젝트를 통해 새로이 보여질 젊은 작가 Sid가 참여한다.
이번 전시를 마지막으로 2017년 2월부터 일년 반의 시간 동안 성북동의 임시 공간에서 진행되어온 ‘성북동 프로젝트’가 마무리 되며, 그간 313이 국제 미술계의 흐름을 통찰하여 흥미로운 전시를 기획하고, 한국 미술에 대한 보다 깊이 있는 관심을 이끌어내고자 노력하며 걸어온 길, 그리고 앞으로 나아갈 방향에 대한 고민을 전시에 담아 보여주고자 한다.
‘본다’는 의미의 ‘봄’이라는 제목으로 열리는 이번 전시는 동시대 미술의 원동력으로 작용하는 신진 작가의 신선한 시각과 완숙한 작업 세계에 이른 중견 작가의 깊이감을 한 공간에서 마주할 수 있는 의미있는 전시로, 서로 다른 주제 의식과 독자적 작업 방식을 가진 다양한 작가가 만나며 한국 현대 미술에서 펼쳐지는 다채로운 흐름을 볼 수 있는 기회가 될 것이다.
313은 2018년 하반기 오픈을 목표로 청담동과 성북동, 두 개의 전시공간을 준비중이다. 제여란의 첫번째 갤러리 개인전을 시작으로, 플로리앙&미카엘 키스트르베르, 그리고 올 해 초 인천공항 제 2 여객터미널 출국장에 대형 모빌 작품을 설치한 자비에 베이앙의 기획 전시가 예정되어 있다.
