As the first curated exhibition of 2016, 313 ART PROJECT is hosting Endless Chair. Connecting artists under a unified theme, the exhibition showcases works of various genres that deals with chairs either directly or abstractedly.
People use chairs to work, dine, converse, and read. At the end of a long day, the chair itself serves as a source of comfort, a sanctuary for tired legs. Practical and anthropological value of chairs are not unlike the fundamental objectives of art–the exhibition depicts how contemporary artists portray such roles of chairs through their works.
313 아트프로젝트는 2016년의 첫 기획 전시로 예술가들의 의자를 주제로 한 ‹Endless Chair› 전을 연다. 전시에서는 의자를 직접적인 주제로 하거나 형상화한 다양한 장르의 작품들이 소개된다.
사람들은 의자에 앉아 일하고, 식사 하며, 대화를 나누고, 책을 읽는다. 긴 하루의 끝에서 의자는 그 자체로 곧 위안이며, 온종일 땅을 딛고 서 있었을 두 다리를 위한 안식처가 된다. 의자는 가장 일상적인 순간, 인간에게 있어 가장 큰 휴식이 된다. 전시는 의자의 실용적 그리고 인류학적 가치가 예술이 추구하는 근본적인 목적과 다르지 않음을 시사하며 현대미술 작가들이 그들의 작품에서 이러한 의자의 역할을 어떻게 표현하고 있는지를 보여준다.
