The first exhibition at 313 Cheongdam, “SBD Project – A View Part 2”, shows new works of artists who have displayed in Seongbuk-dong over the course of the past year. Renowned abstract artist Je Yeoran and six emerging artists discovered through “Seongbuk-dong Project” and “Alternative Space Project” are participating.
This exhibition shows the continuous efforts of 313 to advance the Korean contemporary arts. By combining fresh perspectives of emerging artists with the maturity of the established ones, the exhibition presents dynamic movements of the Korean art scene today.
313 is planning compelling exhibitions in its two spaces in Seongbuk and Cheongdam. In October, Je Yeoran’s first Korean solo exhibition will be held, showcasing her unique oeuvre in the thirty years of her artistic career. Best known for installing The Great Mobiles in Terminal 2 of Incheon Airport earlier this year, Xavier Veilhan will show works in various media such as sculpture, installation, and video at his solo exhibition in December.
313 ART PROJECT strives to bridge the international and domestic art scenes by introducing global artists to the Korean public and showcasing Korean artists through collaborating with galleries abroad.
313 청담 첫 기획전 “성북동 프로젝트 – 봄 Part II”은 지난 일 년간 성북동에서 전시한 작가들의 신작을 모아 보여주고자 한다. 한국의 대표적인 추상 회화 작가 제여란, 그리고 ‘성북동 프로젝트’와 ‘대안 공간 프로젝트’를 준비하며 발굴한 여섯 명의 젊은 작가들이 참여한다.
‘본다’는 의미의 ‘봄’이라는 제목으로 기획된 이번 전시는 청담동의 새로운 전시장에서 313이 그간 한국 미술계의 발전을 도모하고자 노력하며 걸어온 길, 그리고 앞으로 나아갈 방향에 대한 고민을 전시에 담아 보여준다. 또한 신선한 시각으로 작업 세계를 펼쳐내고 있는 젊은 작가와 정점에 이른 작업을 보여주는 중견 작가를 한 공간에서 조명함으로써 현재 한국 미술을 보여주는 의미있는 전시가 될 것이다.
313은 2018년 하반기부터 성북동과 청담동, 두 전시 공간에서 보다 기획력 있는 전시를 준비하고 있다. 10월 말로 예정되어 있는 제여란 작가의 국내 첫 갤러리 개인전은 작가가 30년간 이루어온 독창적인 작업 세계를 소개하는 기회가 될 것이다. 또, 12월은 올해 초 인천공항 제2 여객터미널에 ‘The Great Mobiles’를 설치한 프랑스 작가 자비에 베이앙이 조각, 설치, 비디오 등 다양한 작업을 보여줄 예정이다.
그 동안 국내에 잘 알려지지 않은 작가들을 한국에 소개하고, 국내의 젊은 작가들을 해외 갤러리들과의 협업 프로젝트, 그리고 아트페어 등을 통해 국제 무대에 알리고자 노력했던 313 아트 프로젝트는 강남과 강북뿐만 아니라 한국과 세계 미술계를 잇는 가교 역할에 정진하고자 한다.
