백윤조의 작업은 과감한 색채와 담백한 단순함, 그리고 특유의 리드미컬한 율동감으로 시선을 사로잡는다. 작가의 온전한 출발점은 일상적인 '걷는 행위'에 있다. 걸으면서 복잡한 잡념을 비워내고 얻은 내면의 안정감은 화면 위로 고스란히 이어진다. 작품 속에서 명확한 이유나 목적지 없이 그저 전진하는 인물들 곁에는 고양이나 강아지, 혹은 어린 시절 소중했던 인형을 연상시키는 소소한 존재들이 늘 동행한다. 작가는 이들의 조용한 동행과 은근한 여운을 남기는 위트 있는 코미디적 요소를 결합하여, 우리가 바쁜 삶 속에서 간과하기 쉬운 작은 것들에 대한 따뜻한 배려와 시간의 흐름 속에 잃어버린 순수성을 환기시켜 준다.

이러한 걷는 형상(Walk Series)은 의식과 무의식의 자유로운 심상들을 펼쳐내던 ‘두들(Doodle)’ 시리즈에 그 뿌리를 둔다. 내면의 정서들이 혼재된 두들 작업 중, 유독 강한 여운을 남긴 특정 심상이 비로소 하나의 결과물로써 탄생한다. 작가에게 걷기란 내면의 소음을 비워내고 그 자리에 단단한 유쾌함과 긍정의 기운을 채워 넣는 행위다. 이렇듯 평범한 존재들이 만들어내는 작고 소박한 몸짓들은 감각적인 소통을 이끌어내며, 우리의 보통의 일상을 결코 평범하지 않은 특별한 순간으로 전환시킨다.

Yunzo Paek’s work captures attention with its bold colors, clean simplicity, and a distinct rhythmic sense of movement. The true starting point of her practice lies in the everyday act of walking. The inner peace gained by clearing away complex thoughts while walking translates directly onto the canvas. In her paintings, figures moving forward without any clear reason or destination are always accompanied by small, everyday things—reminiscent of a cat, a dog, or a cherished childhood doll. By combining their quiet companionship with a witty, subtle touch of comedy, the artist reminds us of the warmth and care for the small things we easily overlook in busy lives, bringing back the purity lost over time.
This Walk Series is rooted in her Doodle series, which expressed the free imagery of her conscious and unconscious mind. Among the doodle works where inner emotions blend together, a specific image that left a particularly strong impression eventually emerges as a distinct outcome. For the artist, walking is an act of emptying out inner noise and filling that space with a firm sense of playfulness and positive energy. In this way, the small, simple gestures made by these ordinary beings invite an intuitive connection, transforming our ordinary daily lives into extraordinary moments.
