테레시타 페르난데즈는 대규모 설치 작업을 통해, 보는 것에 대한 인식과 그 심리에 대해 주로 이야기한다. 그녀는 인간이 가진 시각적 능력과 관념화된 인식 체계에 대해 주로 관심을 가지며, 재료와 공간의 감각적 활용을 통해 그녀의 작품 속에서 이를 시각화한다. 재료가 가지는 순수한 물성에 주목하고, 이를 설치 미술이 가지는 건축적 요소와 결합해 현대적 의미의 안식처를 구현하는 작업을 한다.

작가의 작품은 관객과의 관계 속에서 그 의미가 더욱더 깊어진다. 관객은 그의 작품에서 재료와 공간이 만들어내는 착시 효과 등 다양한 시각적 자극을 마주하는데, 이를 통해 그들은 현실과는 다른 또 다른 공간을 체험하게 된다. 그녀의 대표 작품으로는 천여 개의 유리 큐브를 이용하여 떼 지어 날아다니는 벌들을 형상화한 ‹Mirage (horizontal)›, 알루미늄에 빛의 요소를 가미한 ‹Landscape (Panoramic Mirror)›, 그리고 흑연의 금속성 광택을 활용한 ‹Nocturnal series› 등이 있다.

Teresita Fernandez’s installation work, usually in immense size, is characterized by an interest in perception and the psychology of looking.  She mainly studies on the optical capacity and abstracted cognitive system of human and visualizes them through the sensuous application of material and space. Putting much significance on realizing a modern haven of artwork, she focuses on the pure property of materiality and integrates it with architectural element derived from installation art.

Her latest works include Mirage (horizontal) which is a thousand of polished mirror glass cubes which depicts swarming futuristic bees, Landscape (Panoramic Mirror) which is a precision cut aluminium sheets where its biomorphic forms splintering reflected light and cast a cascade of overlapping shadows, Nocturnal series which acquires deep-grey metallic sheen from natural raw graphite and many more.
